1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to Receipt Scanner: Email Scan (the "App" or "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the App and its features.

By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Receipt Scanner: Email Scan is a receipt scanning and expense management tool. Key features include:

• Receipt Scanning: Capture receipts with your camera; on-device OCR with AI-powered data extraction
• Email Auto-Import: Connect Gmail or Outlook to automatically detect and import receipt emails (OAuth authorization required)
• Optional iCloud Sync: Sync supported receipts, categories, folders, income, mileage records, and settings across your Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit service
• Multi-Scenario Expense Tracking: Personalized workflows for 1099 freelancers (Schedule C categories, quarterly tax reminders) and personal finance (lifestyle categories, monthly comparisons)
• Category Management: Organize receipts by category, date, amount, and tax status
• Export: Generate reports in PDF, CSV, or Excel
• Subscription: Optional premium subscription (weekly or yearly) to unlock unlimited scanning, advanced AI extraction, and unlimited exports

The App does not require an in-app user account. Optional iCloud Sync is provided through your Apple ID and Apple's CloudKit service. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID.

3. Not Tax or Legal Advice (IMPORTANT)

• Use at Your Own Risk: We provide automated tools to help organize expense data. We do not provide tax, legal, or financial advice
• No Guarantee of Accuracy: AI-powered extraction may contain errors. You are solely responsible for verifying all data before using it for tax filing, accounting, or any financial decision
• No Tax Liability: We are not liable for tax penalties, audit failures, tax disputes, or any losses resulting from your use of the App's data
• Mileage: The App helps you log and calculate mileage deductions; it does not provide continuous GPS mileage tracking

Always consult a licensed professional for tax or legal advice specific to your situation.

4. AI and Automated Processing

4.1 AI Accuracy

Receipt extraction is performed by on-device OCR and backend AI services. It is not 100% accurate.

• Errors May Occur: Merchant names, amounts, dates, or categories may be misidentified
• Your Responsibility: You must review and verify all extracted data before relying on it

4.2 No Warranties

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will extract receipt data without errors
• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Third-party AI or email services will remain available

5. Subscriptions and Payments

• Premium features require an optional auto-renewable subscription (weekly or yearly)
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings

6. User Content and Ownership

6.1 Your Ownership

You retain full ownership of all receipts, images, and data you add to the App.

6.2 License

To operate the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Store, process, and display your receipts and data on your device
• Sync supported receipts, images, categories, folders, income, mileage records, location labels/coordinates saved in mileage records, and settings through your private iCloud database when you enable iCloud Sync
• Send OCR text and persona context to our backend for AI parsing results
• When you connect email, process receipt-related emails through our backend on your behalf

This license exists solely to operate the Service and ends when you delete your data, disable iCloud Sync where applicable, disconnect email accounts, or uninstall the App.

6.3 Prohibited Content

You may not upload:

• Illegal, fraudulent, or stolen receipts
• Content that infringes third-party intellectual property
• Malicious files (viruses, malware, etc.)

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

7.1 "As-Is" Service

The App is provided "as-is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7.2 Liability Cap

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (or $50 USD equivalent if no payment was made).

7.3 No Liability For

We are not liable for:

• Lost profits, data loss, or business interruption
• Tax penalties, audit failures, or tax disputes
• Errors in AI extraction or exported reports
• Third-party service outages or failures

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services subject to their own terms:

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or compliance of third-party services.

9. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via app update notes or in-app notice.

Continued use constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App.

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You may uninstall the App at any time. Upon uninstall, local data will be removed with the App. Disconnect email accounts before uninstalling if you wish to revoke backend mailbox access immediately. If you enabled iCloud Sync, synced data remains subject to your Apple iCloud account and storage controls.

10.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your use of the App if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or engage in fraudulent activity.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of your jurisdiction. Disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation; failing that, they may be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction.

12. Miscellaneous

• Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us
• Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect
