Privacy Policy — PackTally
Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to PackTally, previously named PackReady, on iPhone and iPad, and to related privacy and support correspondence. “We,” “us” and “the developer” mean the application provider identified as the seller on PackTally’s App Store product page. Contact: developer.happypig@outlook.com.
This policy explains data practices; it is not a request for blanket consent. Device permissions and other choices remain separate. Our Terms of Use describe use of the app.
Summary
PackTally is a travel packing checklist app. You can use its core features without creating an in-app account. Trips, packing lists and preferences are stored locally and can sync through your existing Apple Account when iCloud is available.
The app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, use IDFA, sell your packing data, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do not operate a separate account service that receives your packing lists.
Information You Add
The app may store trip names, destinations and coordinates, travel dates and time zones, traveler names and profile details you choose to provide, such as gender, date of birth and whether a traveler is a child or pet. It also stores activities, transport and accommodation choices, laundry settings, bags, packing items and quantities, notes, checked status, reminders, custom lists, reusable templates, appearance and language preferences, and cached weather or destination images.
This information supports checklist generation, organization, reminders, local use and synchronization. Information about family members is used for travel preparation; the app is intended for people planning trips, not as a service directed to children under 13.
Local Storage and iCloud
The app uses Apple storage technologies, including SwiftData and UserDefaults. When iCloud is available, supported trips, lists, traveler and bag data, item details, reminders, preferences, weather snapshots and destination covers can be synchronized to the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account.
iCloud synchronization uses Apple CloudKit. We do not receive your Apple Account password. Availability and synchronization depend on your device settings, Apple Account, network connection and iCloud storage. Core local lists remain usable when synchronization is unavailable.
Some settings remain local, including device permissions, notification delivery status, onboarding state, offline mode and caches. Cloud synchronization is distinct from sharing a checklist with another person; it does not create real-time collaboration between different Apple Accounts.
Destination Search, Weather and Location
Destination search, maps and nearby-place features may send the search text or selected destination coordinates to Apple MapKit services. Weather features send destination coordinates to Apple WeatherKit to obtain forecasts and relevant packing suggestions. These may be coordinates of a planned destination rather than your current location.
If you grant optional location permission, the app can use your location to calculate departure-to-destination distance. You can deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings and still use the core packing checklist.
Online searches and fresh weather require network access. Offline mode uses available local data and caches; it does not provide new live forecasts. Apple processes information under its applicable privacy policy and service terms.
Destination Images and Other Network Requests
Destination photos and local place data may come from bundled resources, Apple Maps, Wikimedia Commons and image-hosting resources used by the app. Fetching an online image or visiting a linked website sends the provider information inherent in a network request, such as an IP address, device/network information and the requested resource or destination-related query.
Image credits and license information are shown where applicable. Providers and website hosts process requests under their own policies. The app does not attach your full packing checklist to destination-image requests. The current photo provider uses Wikimedia endpoints, including commons.wikimedia.org, upload.wikimedia.org and thumb.wikimedia.org. Bundled geographic data does not require sending each local lookup to its source.
See the Apple Privacy Policy and Wikimedia Privacy Policy for information about those providers. When you visit our policy or support website, its hosting provider may process ordinary request and security logs. This is separate from the app’s local packing-list storage.
Contacting Support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and anything you choose to attach, such as screenshots, trip exports or diagnostic details. We use these to answer your request, investigate an issue and keep an appropriate record of our response. Email is handled through our email service provider. We do not automatically receive your private iCloud checklist when you contact us.
Only send information relevant to your request. You can remove names, travel details or other personal information from attachments before sending them. We may disclose correspondence where legally required or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights or investigate misuse, subject to applicable law.
Notifications
Item reminders use local notifications after you grant permission. Reminder intent may sync through iCloud, but permission and scheduling are handled separately on each device. The app also uses Apple background notifications to support iCloud synchronization. These are not marketing messages.
You can change item reminders in the app and notification permission in iOS Settings. Denying notifications does not prevent checklist use.
Sharing and Export
Sharing text, exporting a PDF or trip file, and printing happen when you choose those actions. The selected content may be provided to another app, recipient, storage provider or printer through Apple system interfaces. A recipient or service controls any copy it receives under its own practices.
Retention and Deletion
Local information remains until you delete it using the app, remove applicable local storage, or erase the device. Deleting a trip or supported record while iCloud sync is active can propagate the deletion to your other devices when synchronization completes.
Deleting the app from one device does not necessarily delete information already stored in iCloud or on other devices. You can manage iCloud app data through Apple's account and device settings. Copies you exported, shared or printed must be handled separately. Cached images or weather may be removed or refreshed as the app manages its cache.
We do not maintain a separate developer-hosted copy of your private packing lists and cannot access that private data to retrieve or delete it for you. Apple's retention and account controls apply to information held in iCloud. This does not apply to a copy you deliberately email to support.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as needed to resolve and reasonably follow up on your request, maintain necessary service records, and meet applicable legal obligations or resolve disputes. The relevant factors include whether an issue remains open, whether a record is needed to address a recurring problem, and any mandatory retention requirement. You may request deletion of support correspondence, subject to those requirements. Provider-managed backups and network logs follow the relevant provider’s retention arrangements.
Security and Service Locations
The app uses Apple platform storage and CloudKit services, and supported online requests use HTTPS. No storage or transmission system is completely secure. Protect your device and Apple Account, and consider who can access files you export. We do not promise that every category of data is end-to-end encrypted.
Apple, Wikimedia, website hosting and email services may process data in countries other than where you live. Their processing locations and safeguards depend on the service and configuration. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for a transfer we are responsible for, we must use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism. Contact us for information about a transfer related to support correspondence.
Privacy Rights and Reasons for Processing
Where European or UK data-protection law applies to processing for which we are responsible, we rely on the basis appropriate to its purpose: providing requested app features and support where necessary to perform our agreement with you; legitimate interests in resolving support issues, keeping services secure and handling legal claims where those interests are not overridden by your rights; consent where required for optional processing; and legal obligations where applicable. Apple or other independent providers explain their own processing in their policies. A device permission does not by itself establish the legal basis for every subsequent use of information.
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent for processing based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner where applicable. We do not use your information to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Use the app and Apple settings to manage data held only on your devices or in your private iCloud database. For information we hold, such as support correspondence, contact the email address above. We may need proportionate information to verify a request and will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will explain any applicable exception or limitation. You will not be penalized for exercising a privacy right.
Your Choices
You can choose what trip and traveler information to enter, edit or delete lists, control notifications and location permissions, manage iCloud availability through Apple settings, use offline mode, and decide whether to share or export content. Contact us if you need help finding these controls.

We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The updated page will show its last-updated date.
